This is a native pollinator garden in its early stages, and it's right on track.
Native plants build deep root systems before they show up above ground. What looks quiet right now is anything but. This garden is in Creep, the second stage of our three-year Sleep, Creep, Leap cycle.
The landscaping at Canton's Administration Building was overdue for a change. The township replaced aging plants with natives chosen specifically for this ecosystem -- plants that support local pollinators, absorb stormwater, and require less maintenance over time.
The community planted it. The community tends it.
Pollinator Pathway is a living demonstration that native plants belong in Canton.
A Canton Township initiative in partnership with Friends of the Rouge and Canton Nature Society.
